Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Hapiness

I have been debating whether or not I should talk about this topic. In my family I've heard comments from "this is the end of the world", to "finally they allowed it!" about this issue. Last week, gay marriage was legalized in California.

This landmark event in American history is going to make millions and millions of same-sex couples in the country able to legalize their union and share last names. I, for once think they should have done it years ago. I think gay couples are no different from any other straight couple out there and I believe that they should have the unalienable rights all American citizens have. This is their time to get what they want and deserve, a final sense of recognition from society and government for their union.

Ellen Degeneres and George Tekkai are going to get married to their respective partners. My uncle Oscar and his longtime partner Rod are probably getting married too and I couldn't be more happy for them. This is just the beggining of a new society that accepts people for who they are not for what they are. This sets an amazing example for other countries of what should be done.

Whether you like it or not, I am completely Pro-Choice on every single aspect of life. It doesn't matter if people choose to be gay or not, they have the right to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't affect people. Congratulations everyone for this great day and I hope you get registered for the wedding very soon!
